Our Life After 55 group is looking ahead to 2010 to enjoy fellowship together and opportunities to serve in the church as well as out in the community. While we have an important responsibility to build one another up in the faith and meet physical and spiritual needs within our senior saints, we also have an increasing group of those in this age group apart from the church in the tri-city area.

This world teaches us that retirement is our ultimate goal–a time to be spent on ourselves, enjoying our own pursuits and dreams. The problem is there is no retirement in the Word of God. The only retirement inferred in the Scriptures is death, and we are to pursue His will for our lives actively until that event transports us into His presence. Certainly fellowship is one of the goals of this group; however, it is not the sole focus. We actively desire to serve our church and reach out to our community–to be used as God opens the doors. We are excited to see Him continually change and transform us until at last we see Him face to face.

Prospects for serving can be as simple as caroling downtown at Acker Musical Showcase, transporting people to medical appointments, visiting shut-ins, and various church maintenance projects. Or perhaps you have a talent to share – training in computers, peer counseling, or financial stewardship. There really is no prescribed limit-in fact the opposite is true. Jesus said to His disciples ‘the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore…that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.’

If you’re willing and available to go into that ‘harvest,’ call the church office and we’ll move to enable you to be sent forth!
